I hope everyone is staying safe. As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on the world, we must accept the new normal that this unexpected situation has created. All of our entertainment options have disappeared. Early last month, theater companies in the Greater Boston area either cancelled or postponed their shows until next year.

A simple task like going to the supermarket has turned into a treasure hunt to find toilet paper, cleaning supplies, eggs and other items that were plentiful in early March. Uber Eats, Grub Hub and other meal delivery services have filled a void but I miss the social aspect of sitting across from someone and chatting while enjoying a good meal. This is the new normal.

The Word has been around for almost 16 years and our goal has always been to provide our subscribers with important information that will keep them informed as well as entertained. We advise everyone to continue practicing social distancing. Also, check in on a friend and/or family member who you haven’t talked to in a while.

Above all, say a prayer for our healthcare professionals and first responders who are doing everything in their power to keep us safe. Lastly, be grateful that you woke up this morning (a lot of people didn’t); you have a roof over your head and food to eat (a lot of people don’t); and you have friends and family who care about you.

We will Rise Up from this, a better, safer nation. Be safe!
